La Commune (Paris, 1871) - Peter Watkins (2000)

A remarkable 6-hour film tracing a little known people's socialist rebellion in France. 30,000 people died. Modern-style journalism is injected, bringing commentary on manipulation of the masses by monolithic corporations and governments. The film goes beyond recounting history and asks how we perceive repression and inequality around us today and how we can act now.
